"I am visual artist experimenting with new techniques and recycled elements to transform them into functional objects and wearable art. Most of my designs explore the roots of my Hispanic heritage. I have always been fascinated by how ancient cultures transformed organic elements into objects that lasted thousands of years".
MARTINA NEVADO
Peruvian-American
Martina Nevado was born in Peru. In 2019 she earned her Associate of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts from Hudson County Community College.
Nevado has been featured in The Work of Women Artists Associated with Latin America exhibition at City Hall Rotunda Gallery in Jersey City, NJ. From 2018 to 2022. Her work was exhibited in different galleries in the United States such as New Jersey, New York, Chicago. She was invited to the Carrousel du 'Louvre in Paris in October 2022 and to Dominican Republic in 2023. She was also invited to Art Fair 14C 5th Edition 2023. One of her work is permanently exhibited at her alma mater.
Martina supports her community. Nine years ago, she started a children's program at the library. Today, she runs an art school encouraging creativity in children from an early age. She is also a Fashion Designer, and participated in Fashion Week, in New York and New Jersey.
Nevado also hosts a podcast and writes for a magazine. Nevado currently lives and works in NJ.
